    SP2 stole 14400 pixels

    Hey all,

    I own a Toshiba 5100-603 laptop which has a 1600x1200 screen,
on linux I had trouble with it running at full resolution,
    EDID gives me this: Modeline "1588x1200" 162 1588 1664 1856 2160 1200 1201 1204 1250
So X refused to work at resolutions higher then 1588x1200..

Now here comes the funny part..

I upgraded to XP SP2 yesterday, and guess what..
Moving the mouse from left to right and back makes the display pan 12 pixels..
    (there's the missing 14400)..
Setting the display to ignore any modes the monitor can't handle makes the top resolution 1588x1200..

Nice, both monitors in the hardware section don't have a roll back.. and Toshiba has no download for a monitor driver..

I'm gonna go look for my "recovery" DvD and search for a driver on there this weekend..

I also wrote up Toshiba on this problem..

Anyone have simmilar trouble or an idea ??

Weird. I have a Dell laptop with an 1920x1200 display. Had no problems after installing SP2.

Did you try updating/reinstalling the VGA driver?

helplesslyhoping, the monitor.inf file was on my Recovery DvD ..
The inf driver is only usable (suitable) for a Toshiba 5100-603, and I'm proppably not allowed to give it out ((c)Toshiba and Microsoft).. will mail it to people that need it..

A good example on making these inf files yourselve can be found here: http://www.videoi.com/~pietro/monitor/
