Thread: Microsoft VS Cisco

    Microsoft VS Cisco

Cisco Systems and Microsoft are headed for a collision over network security, with customers caught in the middle
The two companies have each proposed competing "end to end" security architectures, marking the latest evolution in network defense--an approach concerned not only with scanning for viruses but also with policing networks to deny connections to machines that don't conform with security policies. But for now at least the twin offerings are not interoperable. That means customers might be forced to choose between using technology from one company or the other, unless the two tech giants can strike a deal to guarantee compatibility.

Surely they would come to an agreement, both companies have too much to lose and obviously one would come up trumps

I don't think microsoft is going to provide compatibility with cisco systems even if they can.

Cisco on the other hand might.Depending on what MS does.

Microsoft... Network Security.. serzly, Cisco has been in da networking scene as THE neworking company. Microsoft wishes to expand their horizon and cross cisco's boarders, when they still havent even fixed their own.

as for compatibility, Cisco might be forced to make their systems MS compatible due to the fact that MS still is the OS choice for businesses.. tho i am confident Cisco WILL win this fight. network security is their home turf.

The problem is that if microsoft wants to they can force their way into this busniss, and that may not work for the hardcore networkadmin. The mainstream security guy's could be forced to work with MS products.

That has always been MS's main goal... i just find it sad that MS is planning to compete with CISCO. its just not right.
