I recommend the book Effective Java, and just about any number of other books on the subject. if you are familiar with the programming just look at the java api on sun's java site: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/index.html and it will tell you a little about the language and the packages that are included, but for newbies, look at the tutorials first.

    Hi ,
For java u can visit www.jguru.com . According to me this is one idle site for java.
here u will get tutorials, reviews, code standards, sample code and it has got a very good Discussion forum on seperate topics in java.

    hope this helps.
