What kind of laptop? You might be able to remove the battery to reset the BIOS/boot password but I do know that some laptops don't have a battery and require a send back to the manufacturer for a reset.

    Monty~

With the greatest respect, your question cannot be answered....................It is like going into your local auto shop and asking for a "carburettor"

    1. What make?
    2. What model?
    3. What serial number?
    4. What service code number (if any)?
    5. When did you buy it?

Yes, it DOES matter.............the *&^%$£$" things are about as variable as automobiles

    Cheers

EDIT: The SERIAL NUMBER of the hard drive might also be useful

    OK,

I am not familiar with Packard Bell laptops so I will have to do a little research and get back to you

The fisrst method to try is to remove the main battery and the little button cell CMOS battery and leave the machine for 24 hours. Then put it back together, and the password should have cleared.

    Cheers

Most bios companies make a backdoor password. So the BIOS brand and version would be a help or you could find the company who made the bios yourself with google and look and see if they have a backdoor pass.

Or you could just ask your son for the pass...

According to this site the backdoor password for Packard Bells is sometimes "bell9"

If that doesn't work, they have other possible solutions on that webpage as well.

Or as muert0 said, you could always ask your son for the pass

    Good luck

I would try removing the battery or if there is a jumper to bypass the password alltogether that would be another option. You can also obtain bios password recovery tools over the net just got to look hard enough for them. Again the ask son for password would be the best solution, even try common passwords like Password, P@ssw0rd, blank, common names (like your sons name), things like that.

    Yeah thanks guys,
Asking for it did come to mind, would have worked if he had actualy put in
a password & not just pressed OK and saved it.
Will try other ideas ta! Later.
