You might like to check out the BitDefender site for AV stuff.
Remember that it mostly is there to protect Windows users you might connect to as there is still very little that will actually run on Linux.
Cheers

Use GnuPG for encryption. GnuPG is included with Slackware, but you can always get the latest version at
www.gnupg.org
There shouldn't be any need for virus/spyware protection under Linux. There are very few viruses and no spyware/adware (as far as I know) for Linux. That's the beauty of it.

None that I know of at this time. I have never received any spyware on my linux systems.
Sorry, alittle slow typing.

why does it take so long to decrypt? i decrypted these files with pgp 8.1 on a windows machine in like 2 minutes each, gpg is taking forever just to decrypt one... i cant tell whether it's messing up or just slow or what

Well one basic method of spyware exists [albeit not the most dangerous one, by far] in the form of cookies. But Firefox has a nice per-case system that allows you to select cookie behaviour for every site you visit.
Get chkrootkit and run it as root once in a while to be safe, but there isn't much in the open that could affect you, especially since the ratio of interest versus difficulty [when it comes to penetrating a Linux box] makes you unimportant in the eyes of the possible hackers that could 'own' your box.
