i have that new virus
I recently got that virus that uses a trojan to search for bank account and credit card numbers ( i dont know how!) anyway i have scanned with every scanner i can think of and mcafee picks it up but cant delete it because it says the file is write protected. it has caused some kind of kernal error that keeps locking up my computer! now something called Kernal Fault Check is running... is that good? i think this virus has really got me
p.s. it is a something .gen virus thats all i can tell u sorry... im running XP fully patched on a dell p4 with 384 megs of ram. thanx bye.

It is write protected probably because it is running. Go into safe mode and run your AV scanners. Make sure your AV's are updated, or your work is pointless.

Check to see if the virus is running in the background, the anti virus might not be able to delete it because its running. ctrl / alt/ del and click processes to see if its there. kill it then run the AV again.

Hi,
In SAFE MODE
1. Locate the file
2. RIGHT mouse click
3. Select <properties>
4. Uncheck the "read only box"
Log on with "Administrator" rights
Then you should be able to delete it
If you cannot do someone any good: don't do them any harm....
As long as you did this to one of these, the least of my little ones............you did it unto Me.
