Spyware and Identity theft
Newbie here,
I suspect, or actually know that somone has hacked into university accounts at my school because they forwarded an email to my girlfriend that I worte to some people. Its like they have a look what I can do kind of approch. They have also hacked into my aim and used my screen name. I just downloaded BHOdemon and a new browser, firefox. What else can I do to secure my computer and eliminate viruses. Also, what can I do within the law to get these people? Thanks.

Simply forward every thing to your network administrator, and let them handle it. I am sure they have rules and such that prohibit that kind of conduct. When they are suspended and out of school, they may reconsider their actions.

Sorry to here that. What Moxnix said is a very good start.A couple questions before I go on- do you have a roommate? Is this your own computer? What Operating System do you have< Win 98, xp, etc>? Do you have a firewall and antivirus?
First off change your passwords. Don't do a '1234' job, okay! I see this all the time in my school. Please don't do this! Go look at http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu.../password.mspx. Changing your password might seem drastic but its a good first step to prevent something happening while your fixing your situation. It is also a good habit to do this every other month or so<even less> to help stem these situations. If its your computer or you can download stuff to it, go and download these programs::
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/adaware.html Adaware download, a must
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/zonealarm.html a firewall, if you don't have one
http://www.avast.com/eng/free_virus_protectio.html a antivirus, again if you don't have one
Also make sure your Computer is updated!!!
a start..... Good luck

I'm surprised no one has mentioned spybot search and destroy yet. It is also a must. You can download it from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
It sounds like someone was using a keylogger...
