Photoshop Genius Needed
How would I go about creating a Las Vegas affect over/on a a piece of text. For example I have "Las Vegas" written on top of an image and I'd like it to have like a Las Vegas neon glow to it, trails, and etc so that it looks like something from the strip... please don't answer with some useless link and only respond if you know that your method will work. Thanks. =)

Your best bet would be to catch Christina on IRC sometime.
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Glow and trails huh...
Don't really know exactly what that looks like in a LV context, but try this:
Make your layer, duplicate it a few times, double click it and you'll enter a layer properties dialog. There are glow options there. With the other layers, put them over some kind of texture or pattern that represents whatever you are talking about, and change the layer style, which is at the top of the layers inspector pallete, (i.e. overlay, multiply, whatever)
Other than that, maybe an example would be better to know what you're talking about.

Soda_Popinsky, I would like to take a mixture of teh neon lights that say "WELCOME" (http://www.robnlisa.net/vegas/images/lvsign1lg.jpg) and the light trails (http://www.kornel.com/pics/Photos/Wh...t%20Trails.jpg) and make an image that says "Las Vegas" (new line) "Larry".

Heres what I would try although I don't really have time to do it myself-
Get your polygonal lasso tool, make the lines like you would like. Make a new layer, and try a small wave effect or distort of some kind, (glass maybe). Glow that, make a new layer under it, and glow it wider and more transparent. I would expect it to come out at least in the direction you are going, although I don't really know how accurate it will be.

plenty of tutorials out there on neon text - this looks like it will produce the desired effect
http://www.spoono.com/photoshop/tuto...l.php?url=neon
you can use the same technique shown above for the wavy lines
first select the brush tool and choose a brush type that is the correct size/thickness that you want for your lines - set the color to white
then select the pen tool and draw the path you want to use for your wavy line - right click on path with pen tool and choose stroke path
in the box that appears choose stroke with brush and it will fill along the path with the brush typee you selected earlier.
then just apply the settings from the link above
