AFAIK: The CMOS battery is not rechargable. It is a battery that is similar to a wrist watch battery. Or a battery that you might find in a calculator. Like the TI-83. All it does is provide power to the CMOS to save your settings. If you don't replace the battery, it is possible that you'll have to configure the PC everytime you want to use it. (time, date, devices, etc.)
They are very easy to replace. Just hopefully you don't have to remove too much stuff from the PC to get to it. Use a small flat head screwdriver to remove it and the put a new battery in. Pretty easy.

Thanks for the detailed info
Yes at least just a replacement will fix this, it makes me feel ok
I thought it is ok if i dont change it but if at every reset setting up something would be boring! its not hard to guess
So i ll change it, thank you
ps: i get that message today, how long it will continue you think ? an estimated time ?

Alot of services depend on that battery and it can cause errors when the time/date/HD settings are off set. So go ASAP to the computer store and get the bat. If you need help or instructions on how to install this, just let us know, its not that hard at all.

Well sir, you have asked a good question:
ps: i get that message today, how long it will continue you think ? an estimated time ?
I would guess between four and six weeks, depending uopn your climate............they (batteries) die in cold weather, so if the temperature falls below about 15 Celcius then it could die pretty fast
If you order one today, I am sure that you will be in time
Good luck

Hi,
I bought one just half an hour ago, especially searched for the same made, found and got it
Replaced it with the old one
and it gives the same message at the first start again "CMOS Battery Low"...(!)
With the new battery the time settings were out of date in Bios, i corrected them.
Comp. started
I'm confused
May there be a more complicated problem with the mainboard ?
But its works well, as i'm writing this
nothing unusual

At your first start after replacing the battery.....yes you will have to reset all the information again. But on subsquent starts now that the new battery is in place and the information reset since then....you should be fine and the message should go away.

You should not be getting the Battery Low message after you replace it. How old is the computer?
I have some computers that are some 7 years + old and I have not had to replace the battery.
Actually... come to think of it... in all of the hundreds of PCs that I've worked on, I've only had to replace one battery.
