Have you applied all the Microsoft updates (patches)?


Try:

AdAware Se v1.05
Spybot S&D
Your UPDATED antivirus.

Boot into SAFE MODE and run them all.

Then log onto the internet and see if you can get to the Trend Micro site and run Housecall.

You might have to boot: <startup>, and enter:

shutdown -a

or something like that....................should stop the bad guys for long enough for you to kill them?

by the way regarding my pc hardware im using ATI video 9200 Radeon. When I started to install this video card my pc starts to have a sick (restarting w/out prior notice). I heard many consumers that we re having the same problem when we started to use this Video Card.

Regarding the virus I think there's no virus in my system I already scanned it twice.
I think its the video card or maybe the bios.

Im a supposing that you are updating BIOS because you have a problem that a BIOS upgrade will fix. I have had research at manufacturers' web site and there is a problem with your current BIOS that a upgrade will solve. So, lets skip this step.

So, every manufacturers' web site has instruction about how to upgrade BIOS. Usually those instructions come with bios package. Its a pretty easy process.

based on your message (you are quite insecure about doing that)

I Advise you to DONT DO IT BY YOURSELF. Ask a friend (that know how to do, obviously) or go to PC repair shop and pay someone to do it for you.

OK, you seem to have eliminated the malware possibility.

The next thing that I would try is to go to the ATI site and get the latest drivers for your Radeon. Uninstall the old drivers first. I once had a Radeon that was only 12 weeks old (from being manufactured!) I had problems and found that there were new drivers only one week old that fixed them.

My experience with video cards is that it is usually the drivers or overheating.

Are you overclocking the video card? My advice is to start with the standard settings until you are certain that you have a stable system.

My thinking is that once your PC has booted up, then your BIOS has done its job, and should not have any more influence on that session?

Hi Jin~

I have been advising against flashing your BIOS.................OK I flash BIOSes, but only if needed, and your problems as you have described them, do not seem like a BIOS issue?

The general reason for updating ("flashing") your BIOS is to enable support of some new technology, that was not around when the motherboard recieved its original BIOS.

I do not think that applies to an ATI Radeon 9200?, it is fairly standard technology.

Another reason, might be that there was a flaw (bug) in the earlier release of the BIOS?

I once had someone ask me to help them flash their BIOS (no rude remarks please, Gentlemen )

"It will allow me to run this USB device"...........he said..............."NOT whilst you are running NT 4.0 it won't", I replied...............his problem was that his operating system did not support USB, not his MoBo or BIOS. Strangely, if he had gone to Win98, it would have worked without any further effort. This is not YOUR problem, just an example of fault finding technique.

Please look at the videocard cooling, clock rate (don't overclock to begin with) and drivers. In my personal experience, this is where you are most likely to find the easy and efficient solution.

I admit that I do not know your particular model of motherboard and videocard personally, just other model combinations from the same manufacturers.............and I have never found a BIOS upgrade to be a solution to particular problems, such as you describe.

Please could you confirm the EXACT model number of your motherboard, so that I can do a bit more research. What geographical area do Asus consider you to be in?...............I have used USA and UK so far.

I am sure that we (the collective AO member intelligence) can find you a solution............

Is that the update you have got, or what is running on your machine at the moment?

If you follow that link to the Asus site you will see that the first release of the BIOS was 1003. If you click on the blue "More..." next to each update you will get a pop-up window which tells you what that upgrade fixes.

None of them have anything to do with video, so I think we can say that flashing your BIOS is unlikely to fix your video problem.

I would go to the video card manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your card and install them.

Also check that all your fans are clean and running freely and try to tidy up your cables so there is a good airflow in your machine.

Check that your videocard is not being overclocked (set to run faster than the standard factory settings)

Please let me know how you get on.

By the way, when you have your "restart" problem, is the computer doing anything in particular (playing a game, browsing the web) or does it just happen no matter what you are doing?
