    temporary disbleing of notron

    is the someway to temporaryly disable norton antivirus without removing it from the pc with only limited user privilages on winXp pro with SP2?

    You should make a business case to your sysadmin why you should temporarily disable the AV, and they should do it (or allow you to do it).

    It is ludicrous to be unable to change setting which are necessary to carry out your day-to-day job. I find that Norton AV significantly slows down many operations (particularly with zipfiles).

    I often turn it off when I'm doing builds of my software or deployment activities where it causes a problem.

    norton is a rotten av to begin with. i love how they didnt release a patch for 2003 that caused your comp to restart randomly on its own. theyd rather make u pay for a new copy of the latest.
