Folks: Got a reference from a consulting company that Ken Xie the Ex-CEO of netscreen has founded this compnay and lot of the secuirty services are done in ASIC as compared to PIX firewall from Cisco or any other firewall product in market..

What is your gut feel about this company and products in general?

Well that is true, however it was back in 2000 So you didn't get any fresh poop from them.

I haven't knowlingly used any of their products yet. But do we want to combine an AV with a Firewall?

As far as popularity, one of their products (Firtigate) was suggested only once out of over 350 Firewall Recommendations made by the members. (17 Jul 2002 thru 11 Oct 2004)

And after only a little searching:
Fortigate Firewall contains a flaw that allows a remote cross site scripting attack. This flaw exists because the application does not sanitize URLs that are logged via the web interface. This could allow a user to create a specially crafted URL that would execute arbitrary code in the administrator's browser within the trust relationship between the browser and the server, leading to a loss of integrity.
    Cheers
