Post You want a GMail account? Work for it.

I'm glad that I got my gmail account for free, but I'm gonna make you guys work for it. First of all, if you ask for one, you have to have atleast 25 posts under your belt, and they can't be garbage...I'll check.

    More requirements:
    - You have to post atleast 5 facts about Google here. It can be simple search techniques, beta services, tips/tricks, liitle known things, employment stuff...just about anything.

    - You cannot repeat something that's already been posted here.

    - If it's a service, you must provide a brief description, and a link. Try to cite any and all sources of your info....if I'm unable to verify your info via Google or Yahoo!, then it's garbage.

    - If you post something that was already posted, you're disqualified.

    - You must allow me to use any information you submit. I'm in teh process of building a site dedicated to computer technolgies. There will be a DOS/CMD section, Windows, Linux, Software, News, Google, etc etc. So all the information in here may be used in someway on my site. Your username will be included, unless otherwise specified, and there will be a link to this thread, as well.

I'm well aware that most of you could get an invite easily, but atleast this way you'll be contributing to the community by making AO just that much better with another Google post, and making my site even better for newbies to learn.

P.S. - I currently have 5 invites. I will give them away after I see atleast 5 useful posts (consisting of 3-5 things each) here, and hopefully other AO members will be willing to join in to give away invites. The best posts get the first invites.

AO Members - if you opt to give out GMail invites, please make sure you post who you gave them to so they don't end up recieving two.

    five facts...hmm

    1. You can view google in a host of languages including Klingon H4ck0r & Swedish Chef (view all here
    2. Everyone can develop their own google application using the Google API
    3. Google is powered by Pigeons
    4. By default google removes common words such as the and to to include these in your search place them in "" <- speach marks
    5. You can now search your own PC with google desktop search
    6. You can make google return a custom number of results like so
      Code:
      http://www.google.com/search?q=microsoft&num=-1
just change the bit after &num= In the example is set it to -1 but of course you cant have -1 results so it displays no results instead
