MD5 Checksums - Freeware or Suggestions
Hey all,
Trying to locate a decent program that I can use to create MD5 checksums on files I post for downloads.
I want to provide the original value and allow users to check the value after they download the files.
I think Packetstormsecurity.org does something like this with there files if I remeber correctly.
Anyone have any suggestions for a program? A tutorial would be cool to, but if noone has one... mabye Ill write on when i get it figured put.
Thanks for any input.

I use MD5Sums ( http://www.pc-tools.net/win32/md5sums/ ) for my MD5 calculations. I made a shortcut in my Quick-Task bar on the start menu, and just drag-and-drop files onto it and it MD5's them, and provides a console for me to copy the MD5's out of for multiple files.
A handy little program, although a few people have recently shown concern over the MD5 algorithm itself to verify that a file was not modified. Publicly if you search the forums, I have posted two different files that MD5 the same. I'm sure that there are more collisions that we don't know about yet, but that others do infact know about. As time goes on, we might find out more. But myself, with the amount of freetime students have during testing weeks, haven't found anything beyond what was published in the Proof of Concept.
If you want to read RFC 1321 on MD5 Message-Digest Algorithm, along with some code for it, check this out: http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1321.html
Cheers.

Thanks Tim_axe and SDK, I will check out the reading about the flaws, I have read a little on it but nothing to in depth.
I will also try the rogram that Tim_axe mentioned, I have a large number of files that I would like to creat hashes for, hopefully this will work.
Thanks a ton !!
