    SuSe 9.2 Package Problems

I have tried so many times before to install suse on my laptop, I have lost count. and every time I have tried I have gone back to windows after 10hours wasted trying to get my centrino wifi working,

Now suse 9.2 has been released I thought I will try one more time. I have a hp nx7010 laptop with 2200bg centrino wifi, when I goto yast net config I can now see hp 2200....... so I select it and click configure, then it says that the package ipw-firmware needs to be installed, so I click continue, then it says the required packages are not installed the configuration will be aborted please help my laptop from being shot, I have mastered windows now I want to master linux

Did you install the "ipw-firmware"? If not then go here

This might help you out in the future

ok so I have installed the ipw-firmware package and I have installed and configured my centrino wifi using YaST, how do I browse and connect to wireless networks??? I have looked around and can't find anything. also is there a way to disable the tapping on my laptop mouse pad it is way too sensitive and is doing my head in when I keep randomly clicking everywhere I would much rather just use the buttons

Ok, I recognize that we have a 'General Technology' forum, with an 'Operating Systems' group. I also got a grin out of 'help my laptop from getting shot'. But really...this is a security site. Most of the folks aren't going to be real interested in helping out with general technical questions. Some will, and more power to them...but you've so far posted two questions in this thread that are basic computer usage questions.

I'm glad you've gotten some help, and depending on my mood, had I seen this posted before anyone had replied, I might have given a helping hand. But for your own benefit, you will probably get much more help at another site such as nihil suggested. Not because we are snobs (well, most of us anyway), but because your at a security site.

If you join a Fine French Cuisine forum and start asking questions about the nutrition of Jack-in-the-Box fast food burgers, don't expect an outpouring of sympathetic help. Same thing here.

Trully, I'm not bashing you, and I hope you can get your issues resolved. I'm just trying to help you figure out that there might be a place more likely to help you.

    Cheers! And welcome to AO.
