system time clock wont update
The system time clock wont update.I already tried to change the the time on the BIOS but it wont update.I am using win 98 first edition.

Hi,
Please change your battery............that is what runs the CMOS RTC (Real Time Clock)

Yes....a little watch style battery usually found on your mother board that maintains the time on your computer even when it is off and unplugged.

Don't be too worried about the cost either...........that battery has probably been in since day one [1998 = SEVEN years]
I think it has WELL earned a rest
so now I'm in my SIXTIES FFS
WTAF, how did that happen, so no more alterations to the sig, it will remain as is now

yup the battery is dead.
had the same problem here.
change the battery and you will be good to go !

if ya leave it long enough.. the PC wont start then ya will definatly need to replace it..
