Well, in order prevent this from happening to you again, I'd recommend learning about Spyware prevention. You could start with my beginners guide to computer security (it's to the left, where it says the number of security tutorials I've written) but eventually you'd want to learn more advanced stuff. Just my $.035.

P.S. And I'm curious, how'd you get rid of it? Format?

instead of asking for help, and then saying "hey I fixed it but im not going to tell you guys how, becasue i am ungreatful" why dont you say how you did it that way if it happens to somone else they can search for this post and it will have a resolution.

    Security iGuard

Ok, Aanyone figure out how to delete this "Security iGuard"? This iGuard just showed up on my system telling me I have 20 contaminated programs... I have two questions:
    1) What does this iGuard program do to my system?
    2) How do I get rid of it?

    thank you,
    -Amaro

    1. Wastes resources and tries to scare you with false reporting.
    2. Try uninstalling it from "Add/Remove Programs"

If that doesn't work, post back and let us know.

I uninstalled it. Everything was gone until the third time the PC was rebooted. IT LIVES !!!!
Any other suggestions for getting rid of this thing?

I have a VAIO PVC RZ 34G PC runnig XP. I am concerned that if someone was able to install a program on my PC than certainly they can download all my information. Other than Mcafee VirusScan and setting the Firewall on XP, What other software should I install?

    thank you,
    -Amaro

Smile I Yhink I fixed it

I think I got rid of Iguard.

I downloaded AntiSpyware (Beta1) from Microsoft's web site, installed, and ran it. AntiSoyware found 6 instances of iGuard and 2 other spyware. I had them clened and have not had a problem since.

Also, I was having problems with my home page in IE. It kept changing. After installing AntiSpyware, no more problems.

AntiSpyware seems to have fixed it for now.

    Thanks for all your help.
