    Amazon Phish

    Hi all.

It has been many, many years since I visited this forum.

Today I got an amazon account reset type phish.

What was interesting was not the low quality of the email, but the email address that it was sent to.

I use unique email addresses for each website or company I deal with.

For this site I use an email address like antionline@mydomain.com

That was the email address that the phish was sent to.

Is there any evidence that this site has been compromised?

    Regards,
    Steve

    Never shared it with anyone.

If I'd been compromised I'd expect spam to lots of email addresses.

Bit of a weird one to be honest. As you would guess, being a (albeit quiet) member of this site I tend to know what I'm doing with my security and to be honest I'd expect the same from you guys.

Just a single Phish out of the blue, especially considering its been a number of years since I posted here.

I've had the odd spam to addresses that people have 'guessed' at such as google@mydomain.com and so on.

I think I still get the happy birthday email from the site (not sure though) so potentially it could have been harvested from a mail server somewhere, but again, unlikely.

If I get more I'll report back here - change my address on this site and block the anitonline@mydomain.com

AO has hacked prior to you taking JPnyc position. mnstrgrl should remember her and Joe (JPnyc) fixed the exploit that was used. They got usernames / emails and hashed passwords. Everyone got an e-mail about the site being pwned.
without *nix the world would cease to excist.
