Just imagine the day when windows will control our cars on the roads and ovens in the kitchen, and a hacker/virus enters in the system. Where will this lead to be or what will this result into feed types.

Also there is a noise of smell generation peripheral devices around the corner. Could virus take the shape of skunk bombs then..

All this could be because of vulnerabilities of windows.

As of now, I can only say that I use certain technology to alter such household appliance's accessory (specifically the Remote Control- I use my MOBILE'S IR capability together with a software like IR Remote by PSILOC). Correct me if I am wrong, most of electronic products (including some of the household products), can be manipulated by software (the circuit functions).

But firmly believed that the idea you came up with is already on the testing stage. Silly, but yesterday I was watching Home Alone 4 and somewhat it relates to HouseHold Technology and Security.

If ever this will happen soon, the COMPUTER-CONTROLS-MOST-OF-YOUR-STUFF idea, then AV's should invest on protecting it. Imagine how many stuff we use in household choires, how many brands are there, and how many users wil suffer if their Microwave oven don't seem to start? Or show's the BSOD on the screen, or worst seeing your kids crying while NOT being able to watch Saturday Cartoons because the TV screen pops up some BIG Ads! (LoLz).

Huh, I remember reading some stuff about giant ELECTRONIC BILLBOARDS (wide screen) showing BSOD on the screen? Dirty dirty huh.

**** yeh the car attempting to do a 3 minute egg, and the microwave attempting a right hander at 160km/h.. of course the door on the oven,,,ah car..remains locked.... oh yeh then the car decides it wants to do a full wash cycle.. and the washing machine attempts to get the motor upto 6000rpm.. all the while all devices throwing popup porn at any passing device or person..

Bill: Patching the car, the lawn mower is next.. new virus causes the car to do burnouts leaving porn images on the tarmac, the mower will trim the grass to creat similar images..

Not really, although the scenario you propose would make an excellent TV comedy sketch

I have often wondered about the extent to which we rely on embedded systems.............given a nuclear war and we would all be back in the stone age.

Obviously the fact that these things are embedded and mostly hard coded, protects them from skiddies and the like, but not from natural phenomena (lightning) and nuclear war..............

I cannot remember the last time someone "hacked" my wristwatch or pocket calculator and I cannot visualise a skiddie on IRC boasting about "owning" three microwaves, a washing machine and a toaster....................

Not quite the same thing, but does anyone remember those remote control digital watches? I remember in primary school one of my friends had one; provided hours of fun when the teacher couldn't figure out why the tv wouldn't stay on the one channel
