    CGI Help

    Hello guys!!!
    I am new to CGI programming and I have small task t finish, which I think will be tough for me without you knowledge and help.
    I have a HTML page that has two fields like, userId and Password, and I have to Validate the user before he can go to the an applet.
    I want to know about resources that can help me use CGI to verify the password. I also want to know as to where to save the userId and Password.
    Your help will he highly appreciated.

    What webserver and what (script/ASP/PHP) language?

    Shouldn't this be posted in Web Security or Web Development?

    Do you have to use CGI for this? If you run on something like apache, you could just use a .htaccess for this.
