Just a newbie question. Would those funny.vxd files exist in windows or systems directory be part of the culprit? Those are working as "driver" would be able to hide itself from file system and hence any all higher level processes such as antivirus wouldn't be able to find them?

just remember, it is a computer.....and anything is possible. there have been known .dll's to be virii but there was always a counterpart executable to it, something is loading and you need to find it. what you need to do is send feedback to the AV companies etc and tell them. and never give up hope. also, post the file length of the socks[1].exe if it reappears etc. it will help everyone else determine while we search for your answers if it could be the product of what that other guy said "Mitglieder.J".
