Uhhh, get some anti Virii? I've seen a Trojan infected machine before that would type, which either way, updated Anti Virus would solve.

Gore I had same thoughts as soon as I saw this post - trojan
Alot of the most popular trojans have the ability to send keystrokes to open applications

but the fact she says offline puzzles me - as she would need to be online for the kiddie to be connected to send keystrokes.

There are several viruses however which send keystrokes all the time (reminds me of an old joke program which would replace whatever you typed with a rude word as you typed)

Best thing you can do atm is do a full virus scan :
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

then i suggest gettign some antivirus software like AVG

but if you dont tell us what OS/Defences you are running which makes it hard to answer the question

if your running an unsecured box (no firewall/antivirus/etc) I suggest a full format and reinstall as who knows what else you ahve picked up.

Update your antivirus to the latest definitions, reboot into safemode and then run a full system scan. If you find a virus delete it. If its been out for two months, chances are norton has a fix for it (they have surely been able to steal McAfee and AVGs definitions in that amount of time )

if that doesnt work than download hijackthis and copy the log here, but PLEASE do the full system scan IN SAFEMODE first.
Everyone is going to die, I am just as good of a reason as any.

Take a trip over to www.moosoft.com and download the 30 day trial of "The Cleaner", make sure you have the latest updates and do a full scan of your system. AV software WILL NOT catch all trojans.

    allenb~ is spot on

AV products are generally not very good with trojans, and Norton is very mediocre.

Moosoft is good, for a nice free AT specialist:

    A-squared

    Also:

The interactive bit only works for the 14 day trial, but the on demand scanner can be updated and used for free after that.

EDIT: Run these two and your AV in SAFE MODE

Again, like others, I have a problem with this...

Everyone is jumping to conclusions before knowing facts ( yes, I know, I’m guilty of that too sometimes )

First, you said online and offline. How do you know you are off-line? Did you physically pull the ethernet/phone cable?

Second, What are you using? Here, the OS may provide some information, as well as antivirus, software, what you have tried to find the problem in the past months, etc.

But the hardware may provide more: are you using a wireless keyboard and mouse? If so, how close to any others ( or other interference mediums ) are you?

If hard wired keyboard and mouse, when was the last time you spilled something on them?

If the Hardware is OK, maybe it is a trojan, but what is it typing? Could it be bad drivers? Conflicting software? What exactly is being typed?

    Need more input!!!!

( After reading your profile, maybe someone cast a spell on it?? )

I hear what you are saying, but I still tend to run the precautionary stuff if only to eliminate malware as a possible cause.
