    Office Problem

Well guys I've been fighting this problem for the past 3 days and can't figure it out.

We have 2 users on our network who whenever they create tables in word, 80% of the time the tables get corrupted.

They'll be typing in the document, scroll back up to where the table was in the top of the document, then everything turns into little squares.

The Files they type to are stored on a server.

All Servers and Clients run Symantec Client Security with the latest updates.
I have run Adaware, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, Spybot, Symantec, and Tren Micro on both of these computers and servers.

I re-installed Office Pro 2003 on both computers but this still happens.

If they save it to a disk it doesn't happen, but when they're typing over the network thats when they have problems.

    This is killing me.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi cheyenne

Is there anything in the event logs (system & applications)?

How are they scrolling? with the mouse wheel, the slider or the keyboard..........does it make any difference?

It might be worth looking at the mouse settings, particularly if the wheel also acts as a third button?

    just a thought

Have you tried disabling the real time scan and see if it still happens??/

Also I have had to disable the MS Anti Spyware to install some programs as they stall...as soon as I exit the MS program...it continues

    Just thoughts...

Same problem here! One user, Office 2000. Laptop. Every time users returns from Spain - twice a year - exact problem. After running out of Ideas, I re seated the memory and all is good until the next trip. I can't explain why this works. If it was a bad memory slot all applications and OS would be affected?

edit: no spyware and running trend micro officescan

    Nihil:
Yes they use a wheel mose but its set to to give you a fast scoll option if you press the 3'rd button.

    Zenger:
Right now temp files I belive our stored on the server as they work on the documents.

    MorganleFay:
Yes I have completely uninstalled the AV but problem still occurs.

I just put the Anti-spyware stuff on there yesterday so this was happening before any of that was on there.

    Dinowuff:
I'll try reseating the memory and see what happens.

    Well

maybe something is corrupting the temp files cause they are on the server... as suggested by zenger...

maybe the temp files should be local......

maybe they dont have full contol of the temp file dir..or mulitiple users are "holding\locking" on to the temp template files ...causing them to corrupt??

Its kinda a bad system the way its setup at the moment. We just don't have alot of money at this point of the year to pour into a more efficient document solution(though if anyone has any suggestion on an effecient way to manage multiple users using hundreds of thousands of documents I would be interested).

The users who work on these files have full control of them in that directory.

What I don't understand, is they will be working on a brand new file no one has ever opened before and sometimes when they get to the 3'rd or 4'th page and scroll back to the top everything changes to those damn boxes. lol

get Openoffice, I dont think it is a memory issue esspecially if its doing it on more than one machine and also if you arent getting other errors. Is the office installed on the machines from the same disk? If so could be a bad copy of office.

Well the the office installed on these machines was factory installed from dell.

I just re-installed one of the computers with Office Pro 2003 off of the network.
