Gaobot virus-unable to remove
Hey antionloners
My Norton 2003 reports a virus in a sys file in my win2k comp. the anti-virus is unable to repair the file and delete yhe virus...
I tried to go to safe mode but it got hung.....
the virus is a gaobot virus

Is your Norton up2date?
Have you tried any of the online virusscanners?
Oh, you probably need to turn off system restore or it'll come back after a reboot..

I'll try to get the type of virus.,..
i updated norton just b4 the scan and i haven't tried ne online scans...
shud i do one online?
and how do u turn off system restore....wat is it neway???

No harm in trying and it may find and remove the virus.
and how do u turn off system restore....wat is it neway???

Symantec's Gaobot removal tool.
Disable system restore.
Run this in safe mode.
Run a full virus scan.
Reenable system restore.

panther_black, system restore is found on XP systems....dont worry about it.
