"I have to disconnect my modem and plug it back in to reconnect to my wireless network"
huh?
what does your modem have anything to do with being connected to your wireless network? Are you really losing the wireless coneection, or are you just losing internet access?
What email client are you using? Webmail? Outlook? thunderbird? Outlook Express? Entourage?
How big is the file you are trying to attach?
What Kind of file is it?
Does it happen with all files, or just that one?

Yes i have to disconnect my power to my modem to reset the internet connection......i cannot refresh the network and reconnect.......I am using verizon's email service.......file is only like 55k or so its a text file from ms word template
sry its a bit confusing
Try to send mail with attatchment
click "attach"
Kicks me offline
Cannot refresh network (e.g. ipconfig/release and renew)
I then have to physically disconnect my modem from power source then reconnect to aquire an IP address and have a connection again

does it kick all the computers off the internet or just yours? if it is just yours, then it is a waste of time power cycling your modem. Also, can you attach other files?

Hmmm,
1. Can you send it to yourself?
2. Can you prepare it locally and send it?
3. Can you send it from a different computer/modem combination?
4. Try renaming the file extension to .txt
5. Update your AV and scan the attachment
6. How many people are you trying to send it to?
I am trying to work out if the problem is at your end or verizon's and if there is something wrong with the attachment

Hmm,
Are your laptop and desktop connecting through your wireless network etc?
OK more things to try:
1. Take your laptop somewhere else and try sending it.
2. Open Outlook, create the document offline, attach the template and try sending it.
3. Zip the template file and attach it.
When you say it is in text format , do you mean template.txt, or template.doc, or template.dot?
Please let us know how you get on.
If #1 works then it is probably your local setup. If #2 or #3 work then it is probably verizon.
Have you checked your router and firewall for filtered objects?
Can you send .exe or .com files?
