Overclocking my intel Pentium 4 2.8HT

I wanted to get some more info about overclocking my intel pentium 4 2.8HT. I'd looked on google but didnt find what i was looking for on there, but if somebody can give me a better understanding of what i need to do and what setting i need to do to make this happen. I'm not going to start playing with it now because i dont have the proper cooling system like i need. i just need two more things and i think i'm ready like this case here( http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase/xaser3/v1000a.htm ) and this here ( http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/c...ilentTower.htm)
and i haveing my ram sent to me in 3 days here. ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820144112 ) i was looking in to this for gramming and other apps so i can suport my dual OS windowsXP/slackwear 10.1 linux is a lil slow working with linux running windows and linux. If you guys can give me any tips thanks.....

I'm going to recommend you go to a real hardware enthusiast site, rather than ask that here.

Really? I would have a good look at cleaning up your system. If a P4 2.8HT is running slow I seriously wonder if overclocking will help. I suspect that you may have other issues?

Can you give us a bit more information on your current system and what experiences you are having?

I generally associate overclocking with pure experimentation or getting lower end machines to support more modern OSes and APPS. Yours is certainly not a low end machine.
