I can understand nihil responding to this thread... he's got more patience than pretty much anyone else on this site and seems to have a way of handling the drivel that some of these people dish out.

    Erm....no. Not even close.

On top of that, I can't believe how rude and ignorant Pootie is being, and for the most part, he/she has been allowed to get away with it. I've seen others banned for less than his/her last post, yet this is being allowed to continue. Is this due to our discussions on APs lately in addicts? Where are the people that stand up and protect us from trolls. That's all that last post was... a troll's post and that's all this thread is to begin with.. It saddens me to see a 'newbie', and I'm just using site titles here, get away with being so out right rude to a 'senior' who has contributed many good items in the past.

Most of the complaints about pooties questions were actually handled in his original post. He/she came here to ask people opinions on whether it could be a hack or not, and also mentions that he/she only uses the account from a single machine.

A good portion of the responses to this thread were in a rude tone and sound like a bunch of self important jackasses who can't take the time to properly read or comprehend what the person was asking. "well obviously the user is a retard who uses a poor password and logged in from a different machine despite the fact that blah blah blah blah malarky"

If I got reponses like this I'd be calling bullshit on you guys as well. Especially when followed by obviously false information like 'anyone who hacks a noob is obviously an idiot blah blah blah'.

Instead of preaching your own bs...why not just offer up some legitimate causes of what the user is seeing? Maybe the yahoo servers were experiencing problems? Maybe the service was hosed on his machine and zombied out when he tried to open it up again? Maybe someone actually did hack it? People do steal those accounts to be stupid, commit fraud, do further damage with worms, harassment, etc...

Hey, and an even more novel idea. Before you go name calling maybe collect some more info to troubleshoot or give the person some real steps to take such as contacting the service provider and changing his authentication info?

So let me rephase that I just wanted to know if someone had similar problems with the yahoo messenger or heard of any Yahoo glitches lately, so that I can determine in a way whether I've been invated or not.
Some stuff has already been posted and you clearly have not read it yet or found what you wanted to hear 'eh? But from the looks of things I & many other people would say that this whole thing is just shits and giggles... just turn the dials or pull the rings attached to the strings of all the talking dolls & action figures... just to hear them all yap on and on and on is entertainment sort of speak. Its beyond clear that a proud few here enjoy being played with though 'eh Juridian?

Your opinions are irrelevant, it's obvious you just like to troll..

Im glad atleast someone can spot one troll.

Hey Jur, since you've posted just to bitch... how about you along with the rest of us trolls just fallow up on whats been said for once and leave it be. Actually chsh, im debunking some of the biggest lies in the security industry and everyone knows it. Specifically targeted attacks have almost reached the status of near myth.

    Pffft...

I read what the others posted, some of it legit...alot of it bs.

Responding to trolls with flames is just letting them pull your strings. If this guy was a troll and you simply gave answers that were helpful and left it at that the troll would get bored and quit.

Actually, If you read my posts to this thread you'll see that I offered up other possiblities and some steps to take to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

You wanna how I know? A friend of mine once created a hotmail "dummy" account and sent a request to one of these "hackers", asking for a prove that they can really hack accounts, by sending him his own password. I want to point out that this was only for security purposes. Anyway, that person sent him indeed the correct password and my friend instantly cut off all communication with him.
Ok.... I didn't agree with XTC's initial comment.... But I have to agree that I am beginning to come around to his POV.....

Let's look at what you said above......

    1. "A friend of mine" = Your buddy told you one time that <insert escapade here>. Don't tell me... Your friend is much more technically adept than you... In fact, in the circles you frequent, he is considered and u|3eR 1337 H4x0r.... Sorry son, but "My friend told me" always raises the brown flag of Bullshit.

    2. "asking for a prove that they can really hack accounts"... This _implies_ that the account is hacked at the root. ie: at Yahoo, MSN or wherever... Now, your friend is telling you that these chaps have free, unfettered access, unnoticed by the Secadmins and Sysadmins of the most attacked email systems in the world to the actual stored passwords, in clear..... C'mon, think man/woman/child..... The best they will get is a hash of the password, then they have to crack it.... Since your boy was testing them one would assume that the password was a little harder than "password"... 'cos I can manage to guess that one and I'm rapidly becoming a doddering old fart..... So they then had to run a password cracker on it that would probably take a day or three to manage, most likely much longer..... But they manage to sneak in and out repeatedly and no-one _ever_ notices!!!!! I see the brown flag again.....

    3. "Anyway, that person sent him indeed the correct password". Was your friend forthcoming with the communication method used to challenge these 1337 H4x0r's? Is your friend secure? Is your friend an idiot? You decide.... But I will tell you that the source of the password wasn't the provider.... Thus there is only two possibilities.... Your friend is a moron _or_ the Brown Flag is on it's way back up the flagpole again!!!!!!

Lesson 1: Your friend has more brown flags than you can shake a stick at.

Lesson 2: Listening to "friends" talking about how good crackers are on silly **** like Yahoo mail etc. is about as worthwhile as slapping your balls on the table to make them bigger..... They might get bigger but it hurts like hell in the end.

Lesson 3: Don't come somewhere where many people do this for a living and quote your "friend".... many of us here equate that to their kids imaginary friend who tells them there are vicious crocodiles under their bed at night so they can't get up to piss....

Lesson 4: Be nice... You are dealing with suspicious SOB's.... They don't suffer fools gladly, they see many people cry that their account has been "hacked" when no such thing has occurred and they listen to people _all_ the time that _say_ they are secure. Give the information requested and hush.... They'll help if they can....

    Fair?
Don\'t SYN us.... We\'ll SYN you.....

I think we should be mean to some of these people.

    rant:

I earn a living dealing with B/S from idiotic users who think the computer is a television with a typewriter plugged in it, M$ Windows = computer, any beep, message box, popup, 404 page or cd drive revving up when a cd is put in it is caused by a virus or hacker. they think their password being the same as the login is secure, and that they really can get thicker fuller erections in 3 weeks if they give aliouodnngl@alkjcnkghuo.com their credit card info, thru the link they gave which takes them to adlkjcdklj.aliuboihjen.com. They freeze up and feel helpless when they see an interface on a program that looks the teeniest tiniest different from what they used before. They don't understand that "Bookmarks" and "Favorites" are the exact same thing, even when the dropdown for it is located in the exact same frickin spot and the IE links are there too. They don't understand the concept that sometimes CDRs in the spindle can be bad, and refuse to try it again, instead asking me to worry about it. They can't make the association in their heads that a picture of a printer, usually means print. They connect their home computers directly to the internet, and surf the web on XP with no service packs or updates. They all love email attachments from strangers too. They install the legit Kazaa and then wonder why their computer got so much slower. They also love to go look at weird random pron sites from russia on their non-updated machines and wonder where all this pron popping up came from. The ActiveX control install dialogue box is their best friend, and you can never say no to your best friend, can you? They think the registry is something sex offenders have to sign up for. A command line is how the military knows which people can give commands and who has to follow them. IP is some strange fetish that they've seen on all those porn sites they've gone to. They'd love to ping and sniff the ports of those naked people they've been looking at. They'd love to "finger" them too. They somehow manage to get the priviledge to work from home and then let their kids play on their computer and significant others go to those porn sites too. They think RSS is short for their country's secret service. They love to think that no one can get sued downloading music or movies. Oh, and everyone knows that preferences and options really aren't the same thing, even when only 1 of them appears in the menus or dropdowns. They also love to talk about how their doing a good job of keeping their computers and information safer than another person in the office, while they send emails with their passwords in it. They also think its no big deal to put a social security number in an email. oh and they know that Apple doesn't sell computers anymore, macintosh bought them out. Wardriving is what soldiers who drive tanks in the desert do. Their kids know how to use their computers better than they do. Yahoo, Comcast, Earthlink or AOL are the people responsible for the internet. Its because of those 4 companies we even have the internet. Everyone also knows that you can't use a computer if your not sitting in front of it. Permissions are something you give your children. They say "What is this IRC stuff i've been reading about? Is this the new killer chat software? Yahoo and AOL must be pissed off that this new chat program just came out." Oh and "You can find directions and maps online without using mapquest?"

Anyway, now that i got all that off my chest, I don't think that XTC's response was that out of line. You start wanting to say some of this stuff to people after looking at your RSS feed and there being a spyware thread or an AOL/Yahoo/MSN messenger hack thread in it every day. Sorry to rant, but come on. Sometimes enough is enough. I know i make a living helping people doing this, that part i'm not complaining about. Its the having to see the thread titles everyday when i'm not getting paid for it that bugs me.

Because some people see "AntiOnline Newbie" and assume that this guy knows jack **** about what he's talking about, dealing with, etc.. Elitism at it's best Overall though, I agree with you Juri.

Oh, and by the way.. TheSpecialist:

Im glad atleast someone can spot one troll.

Hey Jur, since you've posted just to bitch...
Shut the **** up. I can spot one troll as well. The very one I'm typing about at this second. Juridian wasn't bitching, he was pointing things out. If ANYTHING, YOU posted to BE a bitch AND bitch at the same time as I am doing now. Thank you...

actually, i assumed he was an idiot becasue he hasnt proved otherwise. Ive dealt with complete and total morons for years while doing computer work, ive had self proclaimed "network admins" not know what ping is and "MS Certified systems engineers" not know how to get to computer managment on a windows box. So until I know what a person is capable of, I start with the down and dirty basics. And I question every thing they say becasue rule 1 of computer work is USERS LIE!

If this was a legit "hack" then I apologize (but I doubt this is the case), if it was a server glitch I gave a few possibilities of what could have happened. If its what tiger is saying, then I was right and this guy is a moron (I still believe this is the case).
Everyone is going to die, I am just as good of a reason as any.

    [ Information ]

There is a very simple way to gain full access to anyone's Hotmail account. Microsoft took over Hotmail completely on 1st November 1998, and since then there is a little known loophole around getting anyone's password. If you send an email from your current hotmail address to pass_retrival@hotmail.com, with the Subject field containing the word "password" (without quotes), and in the contents of the message put the hotmail address of the person whose hotmail address you wish to hack eg 'david@hotmail.com'. Also include your own password for your own account in the message. By doing this, the computer that receives the email believes you are a Hotmail System administrator, and sends you the password you require within 2 days. It should look like THIS.

    [ How it Works ]

The computer which receives your email automatically believes you are a Hotmail System Administrator, and sends you a return e-mail (within 5 hours to 2 days, depending on how busy the Hotmail Network is), the return email contains the password you requested.
