linux bridge
Im currently on XP and im bridging my ethernet card with my wlan card and sharing my wireless connection this way. I was jus wondering if anyone has done this in Linux and if the Linux Bridging HowTo would apply to this.

Ive never done this... but if it is a How to on bridging connections...and you are trying to bridge a connection, then fairly simple logic would lead me to believe that yes, it would apply.
But why are you using a linux how to for windows xp?

lol! C'mon...im not that dumb ....im using the tutorial for linux...i was jus saying that im using a bridged connection under XP atm. And te only reason i asked about the HowTo is because it refers to ethernet cards and doesnt mention(atleast not at the point im at) mixing it with a wlan card.
Save ur sacarsm for some1 else......

a wlan card is an ethernet card...
why do people over complicate wireless? its the same thing as wired...but without wires? wireless is just a way of transfering bits and bytes, above layer one (with the exception of the encryption/decrypion) it is pretty much the same as a wired network.
Save ur sacarsm for some1 else......
no need to worry...I have plenty to go around

I think if you re-read the original post.. the question was HOW TO BRIDGE IN LINUX.. if it was the same as in XP... obviously he is doing so in XP...
Is that correct SekurityKlown.. and yes you do have reason to comment about sarcasism if that is so..

is this just a bridge or do you want to set up routing functionality too ??
if you need al the routing and stuff, http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/IP-Masquera...-examples.html might be a good start..

Yes thats correct.....thnx for the replies guys(some of you atleast)...all i wanted to know is if following the Bridge HowTo would work with bridging a wired to a wireless connection before i go experimenting to much on the laptop i jus set up with Slackware ....
damn...i ask a simple "help me out" question and get a bunch of smartass replies from Senior KnowItAlls
