    Virus Problem

I recently got a virus on my other system. I've ran my virus and it comes up as win32.clspring.generic but everytime I try and find it to delete it I can't find it because it changes the name and folder. So was wondering if anyone had an idea of how to get rid of it. I've ran EZ virus and Trend House Call and neither of them will remove it.

Check out this link http://vic.zonelabs.com/tmpl/body/CA....jsp?VId=42280 for full details on the little bugger.

Have you tried booting Windows into safe mode ? As the computer is booting tap the F8 key repeatedly. A screen will appear that gives you the safe mode option. This boots windows with a bare-bones set of drivers and will stop the trojan from loading itself. Then try to delete it.

You might also try running HiJackThis http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html. The info above shows you what processes and registry entires to look for, but you might want to post a log here if you are unsure. Don't delete anything if you aren't.

    Good luck.

I think someone should only re-install if the system can't run cuz the virus damaged it too much or messed up the registry or something too bad, otherwise re-install windows is the last optioon anyone will try...so let's try to get rid of it this way and if we can't, then we'll do the re-install.

freakygeek420 what did u try from the advice above and was it a success ? safe mode and then scan is probably your best shot.

I understand what codelogman is saying. This malware can add a browser helper object to Internet Explorer so everytime you start IE you reload the malware. A reinstallation of IE may cure this.

Here is what I would do:

    1. BOOT INTO SAFE MODE
    2. Clear your bowser cache
    3. Clear your browser history
    4. Clear your MRU records (most recently used)
    5. Delete all your cookies other than ones with passwords stored in them
    6. Delete your browser helper objects (BHOs)
    7. Run your anti virus, it has a much better chance of cleaning in safe mode

    8. Reboot into normal mode and get these:

    A-SQUARED

    http://www.emisoft.com/en/software/free/

    EWIDO

    http://www.ewido.net/en/

    9. Update them both
    10. Reboot into
    Safe Mode and run them.

NOW boot into normal mode and update your operating system and browser
