    Google Earth

I've been trying to download the Google Earth software from http://earth.google.com
I said "trying to" cause I'm not sure I've actually managed to download it. The files supposed to be 10 mb or something but my download stops at 264 kb and then when I try to run the setup-file, nothing happens.
    Anyone facing the same problem?

This may sound stupid but does nothing happen means no error message, no attempt to connect to internet, nothing on screen like opening , extracting files, et al? then try running some other setup file of some other software , if they run fine, then it is problem with setup file, as i have just checked it is downloading fine on my computer atleast.

Not working for me either. Downloaded upto 380kb and then stopped. couldn't download with firefox nor getright. Says 'unresumable download'. and executable isn't working. Google is probly trying to hold them back.

Maybe we could get an invite from someone who's already downloaded a copy

Yea well.. nothing at all happens.. Not even an error message.
Thats strange.. it downloads 380kb for Alamuru while I get only 264!! What, is google celebrating crazy week or sth.. haha..
Somewhere in some help forum someone had written.. "You can download Keyhole first and then... " and so I downloaded thinking maybe you need keyhole before you can run google earth.. but the keyhole (9.4mb) wouldnt work.. and I ended up wasting a lot of my dial-up time.. haha.. I wouldnt mind an invite!
    So yea

Check out these highlights -- airplanes, strange land formations, important locations. Pretty cool.

If you want to see the best that MS can do..

    http://virtualearth.msn.com/

maps are nice.. but only any good if your in USofA .. if in Lower Mauldavia (another of my pet name for Aus) as handy as **** on a bore Pig..

oh and MS's TerraServer.. dunno about my link but it is only serving out USof A http://terraserver.microsoft.com/

google earth still wins.. smooth, seamless, FAST(if you dont mind putting up with blurs while the data is streamed.when viewing at low altatudes)

[edit] Oh just found this on Slashdot..

Just d/led it at 300kb/sec first try......

    I dunno....

    [Edit]

It uses the same map source as Topofusion, (google it if you own a GPS). Nice, but I prefer Topofusion because once you have viewed the maps at various scales they stay on your box... Great for wardriving....
