    are you talking about the saved list of previously run programs when you go to start then run or the list of programs that xp generates as the most recent used?
    Everyone is going to die, I am just as good of a reason as any.

    This shows you a couple of ways of restoring it. A little reverse engineering should get you where you want to go.

    run regedit navigate to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ RunMRU\.
    Delete all of the values in this key (everything in the right pane, except for (Default)).
    why?

    You might try:
    <run>
    <startup options>
    <advanced>

    and clear the MRU (most recently used) from there?
