I was looking for the BIOS scsi controler Setup. The server is already mounted, with 4 Hard-Drives, but i would like to have an example how to configure a Hardware RAID 5 Controler BIOS Step by Step.

This is to make sure that i don't do any mistakes.
    Thanks

The RAID controller will get to me tomorrow, so i had yet no chance to read the manual, and i think this is not the kind of stuff that is detailed in a RAID Controler... i guess... but if it's there, i will read the manual

    Thanks

When you boot the machine...the scsi controller should be listed....

And then a google seach may help.....

sounds like it may already be setup????

Windows server will recognize as one big hardrive.....partition as needed...I would think any other OS....but not sure....... such as *nix.........

Hardware raid is managed at the contoller...which then sends the configuration to the OS\software

or the OS reads from the controller....

However.........its the controller manual you will need to setup hardware RAID....as it is the hardware tat s managing it

    Better than software raid...IMHO...

    as always

I have started to configure the RAID. Got in the SCSI controler BIOS, configured it to RAID 5,
    Stripe size = 64kb
    read caching = y
    write caching with battery= y

I split my hard drive in two partitions
    c:\ = 20Gb (system)
d:\ = 180Gb (rest of the space avaible)

Someone have just told me, that RAID 5 for operative system its not good, the windows will not work correctly, is this true?

    Thanks
