    S.M.A.R.T. and eventlog

    As i know, most of system status writing to eventlog.

    Errors with hdd, cdrom,bios, etc...

    And I want just to know is it enough to monitor just event log to detect hdd errors or
    it is better to use s.m.a.r.t. monitoring?

    As I see it the two are different? SMART is specifically for hard drives and is proactive , your other logs are reactive?
