my son is 9 and the other 7 and they both have pc in their room but so far no access to nett so didnt have any problem to worry so far.
now is time to fine tune their pc().
Of course on their pc they are limited users with noway to find my password and if i start seeing my screwdrivers missing or they lock in the room they will be in all sorts of troubles.
thanks for pointing to that problems but i was lucky when i had computer my mum didnt know what that box means(soo i can do whatever i wanted)
i know little bit more and dangers of nett and they will be guarded well

Its not really a "laser". its just an LED. When people say "Don't look at the laser! It'll burn your eye!" I normally pick it up and put it to my eye and start screaming! It doesn't hurt your eyes at all, as far as I can tell.

The optical mice really are nice. They should be pretty inexpensive by now. They are so much more smooth and the last a LOT longer. They don't get dust or hair on the "trackball" (because it doesn't exist). However, you are limited as to which surfaces you can use it on and you shouldn't use it on a glossy mouse pad. It won't work on glass and doesn't work well on shiny surfaces because. I've found it best to use just a plain dull fabric topped mouse pad.

Something strange though... every so often, I'll see my mouse cursor just move across the screen when I've stopped using it and started reading a webpage or etc. This happens on multiple PCs while using the optical mouse. (work, home, laptop) Not exactly sure why it does it... Or, if I have the bass up too loud, it'll move itself slightly because the mouse is vibrating.

Just because I know you are dying to find out, here is a quick summary of how they work.

    Phish,

You might want to be careful there. There are LED mice and laser mice. The ones with the bright red light that you can see glowing immediately are the LED ones which won't really do much to your eyes (although I probably still wouldn't hold them up to my eyes). There are some that logitech make, and I'm sure other manufacturers, that do in fact have lasers in them. These mice can and will hurt your eyes if you start at them for any amount of time.

In general, Optical = LED, and Laser = Well, laser.

Oh... I'll have to watch out for those! Thanks for the heads up!

Fortunately... Dell is too cheap to ship laser mice and only ship optical mice?

Now I really feel like a dumbass... lol
