Angry Conroe not until 2nd quarter 2006

Ahh.... they're killing me, I was really excited about 1st quarter. One thing is for sure, as soon as I get ahold a conroe I'm gonna turn that bitch out and see what they've been talking up.

    Presler 1st -2nd quarter
    Cedermill 1st quarter

Yonah maybe will have something like a dothan adaptor.

Is anyone here buying anything 1st or 2nd quarter?

    Hey Hey,

I believe he's talking about this

    http://news.com.com/Intel+highlights...3-5697088.html

In February, Intel said it was working on 15 dual-core chip designs, which combine two processing engines on a single slice of silicon, and on Thursday Otellini disclosed three new names.

Code names for those second-generation dual-core chips are Conroe, for desktop machines; Merom, for laptops; and Woodcrest, for lower-end servers with two processor sockets, Otellini said. They will succeed Presler, Yonah and Dempsey, respectively.
    Peace

The Intel Corporation year like a lot of fortune 500 & 1000 corporations is broken into fiscal quarters. That's how they project revenue, what they gross, their estimates, expectations set out by the companies and when they're met or exceeded all is good for stock holders, earnings season etc...etc... Do you play stocks? They release new chips or chips with new steppings in these quarters. God they were releasing info on conroe on a need-to-know basis scince 03-00-04 trickles from the grapevine. My understanding.

I think cedermil's in the fabs right now.

And a dothan is a mobile chip that you can bring to the desktop through an adapter, it looks like this: http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/9014/adapter6yp.jpg

Awesome little piece of action a dothan is, not too bad price wise either.

I'm set for a while in the CPU arena with my modified Mobile Bartons. I just need a pair of waterblocks, a heatercore, an aquafier, and a pump and I can push my machine to 2x 2.5GHz. Living in the hot/heated dorms my machine is only stable at 2x 2.4GHz. Plenty fast, but my memory bandwidth is lacking and the latency is (well) lagging...

Right now I'm just waiting for HDD sales to bring the 300GB-400GB drives within my price range. I need more storage...my current 300gb (120GB x2 + 60GB x1) isn't holding out much longer since I got my 8-megapixel DSLR and started covering sports or other events nearly every day...

Cliff, I do love how the MOSFET'S on your woody project board are packed together.

I'm making the move right now to the 775 hybrid boards. I'm selling a switftech storm waterblock developed by the well-known Australian engineer Cathar. I bought storm block #17 for $75 the second day it dropped and left the communities waiting for the rest to be made a month later.

I'm also selling an Abit, DFI, Asus and Soyo boards....... DDR ram, MCP655™ 12 VDC Pump.....and a bunch of other goodies. A Northy(sorry to see go) a Presy...... A Bonny 1977 core...10' ***new tubing

Here is the abit board and block.

One more thing about that swifty waterblock....its universal retention mechanism (Intel socket: 478, 775, 603/604; and AMD socket: 462, 754/939/940) But lower voltage chips in the fabs..... yeah, I'm getting out while I can for the maximum cash back so I can keep riding the wave of new tech goodies.

When I sell that off I'll break some bread on a cheap Celeron D with a lower multiplier like the 2.4, 2.53, or 2.66 to hold me off until 2nd quater. They'll be cheaper and will yield higher FSB for more performance. The LGA775 Celeron D's will be the E0 stepping so they'll give good clocks. Give me a 2.53 I'll make that hoe work at 3.8 gig stable on air only guaranteed. A 2.53 @ 3.8 on a Abit AS8, yeah, that will sustain me for a few months. The 64-bit Celeron D will roll on the AMD Semp0rn, except a little edge in games. But son when you run up on Vicky Lou (Derogatory name for Vice Lords) a couple FPS isn't gonna help ya!

When you start on your wet system keep us updated on that project. On that heatercore I'd go with a 1977 Bonneville for $20 from AutoZone etc. I'll take a $20 bonny with two 120mm panaflo's on a rheostat over anything else any day for the money. When you said aquifer did you mean like a reservoir? Because I never used one, I'm too cheap. I used an extra piece of tubing and a t-connector. Speaking of being cheap, have you looked at the new SI-120’s? The successor of the Xp-90’s, which I use and let me tell you bra, these WORK! A pair might fit in the woodie and might work out for you with your ambient.

***edit** and at the price of being redundant let us pay homage to the electrical engineer who developed the schematic for the placement of that many MOSFET's in one place...awesome!

I remember reading something from Cathar...either he tried a few of his designs in silver, or was starting to mass-produce these things or something of that nature. I'll have to browse through ProCooling again...it's been a while.

Yeah, Duallie Woodie was fun. But in this environment I need a much better air-flow/intake so I can filter out some of the crap in the air. Cleaning dust out of the HSF is not fun...especially when you have two heatsinks to pull the dust out of. It hurts big time...I still run this thing without a side panel so it sucks the dust up like crazy

I was looking for the Bonnville. Couldn't remember if it was the '77 or the '74 that was the ticket. Whichever one is cheaper, I guess. And yeah, I meant reservoir. I just did a paper on a reservoir, and somehow aquafier came to mind when I was grasping for descriptive words.

Thermalright is good stuff. Don't get taken in by Thermaltake. Or at least don't expect much, haha. But the thermalrights were good. I can't afford to shell out that much cash on the HSF though. Which is why I have the Vantec Aeroflow HSF. Small design, robust & good, but it doesn't have the surface area of stuff designed for 120mm fans.

And good luck waiting on the sidelines with the Celeron D. It's definately smart to sell while you can still get high prices for your gear than sit on it while it depreciates. That's why I did my best to invest little in my computer ($650 got me much more than other people spending $1,500+ on prebuilt).

Unfortunately photography is another story. I have some $3,000 landed in camera/printer equipment right now. At least it is very slowly paying for itself...maybe by the time I graduate it will have paid for half of what I have now

Edit: 754 posts. Same # of pins as socket 754 w/ single channel memory access.

Yeah, stew foster with his CNC machines, the man is putting out some high quality blocks. I've talked to him plenty of times; particularly I needed some graph data on some stuff.

If you place a dust screen on a 120mm panaflo you'd be set, two 120's running on full blast sounds like a couple of server blades, they're 45.5 dBA. But can be whisper quiet when rheostat controlled.

When people see that picture they think the little fan is really small when actually it's a 80mm.
