Internet Security Systems' Unified Threat Management Product Receives the NSS Approved Award; Company Is One of the First To Obtain Approval Status in the UTM Category
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 2005--Internet Security Systems (ISS) (NASDAQ: ISSX) today announced that its Proventia(R) Integrated Security Appliance received the NSS Approved status in a unified threat management (UTM) test conducted by The NSS Group. The NSS Group is the world's foremost independent security testing facility.
The NSS UTM test evaluates the performance, reliability, security effectiveness and usability of UTM products, based on seven main components: firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS, anti-spam, anti-virus, Web filtering and content filtering technologies. In order to obtain the NSS Approved status, UTM products must reach certain levels of attack recognition and detection rates, as well as perform well in other areas such as ease-of-use and management capabilities. The NSS Group believes that its methodologies will soon become the de facto standard for testing in-line UTM devices.
