    Wee we Better rename this one to Lottery Scams if you will:

    There are a nice rash of these at the moment;
    There is the:
    The US Lottery Scam
    The UK Lottery Scam
    The New Zealand Lottery Scam

    You will reply to these and they give you a bit of a run around, ultimatly like the Nigerian Scam.. you have to Give a banker a bribe ooops a fee in advance to enable the release of the funds..

    As these mails seem to come from the same group.. yes it seems to be an organised scam (arent most of them) there are definate simularities from each country..

    So We call it the Scam.Lottery.x.y (insert your own alpha-numerical combo)

    BTW .. I thought these lotto scams were covered in an earlier thread.. cant find it now.. so I shouldnt complain..

    Woo-Hoo!! You won!!

    You better hurry up and cash in on that before a Nigerian Prince takes your winnings and gives it to someone else!

    Here is a little (very little) more info on that:

    Yep it was covered before but I still like to read the up to date scams. Just shows how lame the people who do this really are.

    taken from an earlier link:
    http://www.hoax-slayer.com/lottery-scam-list.html

    This list is by no means complete.. Well it didnt have two of the scams I have trapped in the past week... And as these scammers are targeting selected regions, my systems would miss the Aussi scams (seems logical.. who in OZ would enter the international OZ- Lotto)

    I like this advice:
    If you receive one of these scam emails, it is important that you do not respond to it in any way. The scammers are likely to act upon any response from those they see as potential victims. Although it can be educational and even entertaining to "bait" these scammers, such endeavours should only be attempted under controlled conditions. The people who run these scams are criminals and could even resort to violence and intimidation to meet their aims. You should delete the email without replying. Alternatively, you can forward the email to the address supplied on the FraudWatch International website for further investigation.
