It’s the aftermath of a hurricane, and this pilot fish is helping to support the team evaluating damage at a group of chemical plants in the hurricane’s path.

“All the plants had lost power after the orderly shutdown of the operations processes, and the assessment teams were sent in to conduct damage assessments of the infrastructure,” says fish.

“There was no power whatsoever in the darkened plants. PBXs, servers, network switches and routers were dark. But we had restored dial tone to selected locations, so the team members could have some communications other than cell phones.

“My first help desk call was from one of these sites, complaining that the assessment team member was using his battery-powered laptop -- but couldn’t connect to the network to submit his report.”
