Hello ComOps_1029 and welcome to AO.
You say you have two accounts:
1. Administrator
2. Family
Obviously, the administrator account can do anything, and it sounds as if the family account is reasonably restricted from a security viewpoint. I presume that the default "guest" account has been disabled?
I don't understand what you mean by "their" account.....................they don't seem to have one.
It seems to me that what you need is a "superuser" account with sufficient authority to do what is required but without compromising security?
You should NOT be using the Administrator account to surf the net.
You don't say, but you must be using XP or Win2000. Check out the security features so that you understand account privileges and user groups. Then discuss it with your parents.
For example an account that permits download but NOT installation or amendment etc.
Remember that if you are successfully attacked, the attacker will gain the privileges that you are logged on with

if u were like me and u googled hacking because u wanted to learn how to hack (note: i was doing it for legitimate purposes, i.e. testing my schools security) then this site came up and u decided to try it out and hopefully find your parents password for the admin account so u could use certain programs whenever u wanted without your parents knowledge then u came to the wrong place. This site is to learn hacking from the opposite end, u learn it and then try to stop it. If u do have ur parents permission and this is a legitimate venture then there are many ways of doing it. It depends on your OS, though im assuming ur using a form of windows. if its XP, its a lil more secure in my experience, and its not as easy. There are many baby hacks for older versions of Windows that easily erase passwords or edit passwords. I think before i post to much more, ill wait and see how this thread develops , give us a little more info (OS, reason for use, etc.) and we should be able to help u

If you have an administrator account then you don't need to find their passwords you can just change them. Of course as soon as they try to use the computer them will see that you have modified their passwords. If you are asking a legitimite question then they will be happy with that. If you are trying to hack their accoutns then thay will probably ban your a** from the computer and that will take care of the biggest security risk in your enviroment.
I think you might want to rephrase your question if you do want to learn about security. If you want to learn to be come a ultra cool HaCKer then you need to return to google as was said above.

Absolutely correct, but why bother? If the security has been set reasonably tight, there is an Admin account and user accounts with limited privileges. It sounds as if he has one and they have one.........that would make sense to me? So their account won't have any higher privileges.
If you want supervisory privileges then you just insert another layer into your user authorities model and grant powers as required.
Alternatively (and I DON'T like it), use Admin to do what you need, logoff the net, move your stuff into your user profile and grant ownership/rights? then your profile will have access, and the stuff won't be in the Admin profile?
Talking of profiles: I would have expected to have my own computer at that age? I would also have the bawlz to talk to my parents?

i have limewire and all my games and stuff
And LimeWire is a big security risk waiting to happen, when will people learn not to use those damned *****Peer programs, there just one big virus...
Me wondering when the RIIAA is going to be paying he's house a Visit...
I would also have the bawlz to talk to my parents?
Nihil it's called email... he'll send 'em an email and by the time they read it, he'd already be half way across the country in hiding..

originally i knew the password and my brother found it out too. so he would get on limewire and download porn and metallica and stuff i dont want on there. so i told my parents that he keeps getting on and they changed the code and told me. well my brother got mad and told them that i was watching saw on there which is rated "R". so now no one knows the password. if i cant get on their account (administrator)can i put a password on limewire? is limewire bad? no one told me anything like that

#1 my parents dont care what i say or think. it holds no value to them. so talking does not work. ive tried it. do u think me being on here is my first resort?
#2 they dont care as long as they're comfortable, because why should they bother, they are satisfied with their comp and will not move an in to accomodate me.
