    XP: 99 Useful Run Commands

    Nice little site for a variety of reasons...

    Do you use the Run feature in Windows XP? For most, this feature remains unused (or rarely used). Why is that? Well, First off nearly all of the Run Commands Correspond to a particular Control Panel Item or a Utility, Tool or Task that can be accessed through Windows. There are, however, tools and utilities that I bet you never knew you had that can be accessed through the Run feature. The main reason most people don't use the Run feature is because they don't know the Commands. So, to solve that problem, I decided to put together the following listing, which lists 99 Run Commands and what they correspond too...

    Here's a few more

    Internet Explorer = iexplore
    FireFoX = firefox
    mspaint = mspaint
    Acrobat Reader = acrord32
    Winrar = winrar


    I could just go on and on :-) ....




    All of these run commands are the Process names of the applications. The windows task manager can be used to look for the process name while the appication is running. I guess all the programs that ship with windows works with RUN in this way.

    winrar dosn't ship with windows :P

    Short names work on all applications that are registerd in a certain way and/or exist in %WINDIR% or %SYSTEMDIR% if I recall correctly.
    With all the subtlety of an artillery barrage / Follow blindly, for the true path is sketchy at best. .:Bring OS X to x86!:.

    I guess all the programs that ship with windows works with RUN in this way.
    Let me state more precisely, just for the sake of order:

    An executable can be executed with RUN, if it's location (the folder)
    is in the %PATH% environment variable[1]. Check the %PATH%
    variable via "echo %PATH%" in the command prompt.

    Nor does Firefox or Acrobat Reader....
    Wht i meant was tht most of the third part softwares dont always work in this manner :-)
