    A small quick tip for Windows 95

    This is in no way a tutorial and the quick tip forum says they should be security related and this isn't.

    This is for people who miss the old days of your computer starting up in DOS instead of Windows. If you have an old box running Windows 95 because you're like me and miss your early days of computing and because Quake doesn't run in NT, well this is for you:

    Edit the file C:MSDOS.SYS

    BootGUI=1

    Change it to:

    BootGUI=0

    You now have a machine that loads DOS first and you have to type win to start Windows.

    IIRC it's part of the QuakeWorld package.. I'll see if I can dig it up somewhere.. It's been a while..

    Edit: Found it again.. Most of the old links were dead...

    Shoot... You need to register to download I have those files on disk. I'll see if I can upload it here when I get home.

    Fileplanet subscription is free, last I checked. If it's not, let me know, I think I have an account from back when it was, I'll see if it's still active, and if it is, maybe the login info will just slip out of my fingers and into a PM..

    [edit: yup. My account's still there. It should be free to register..]
