    Winsockfix

    Many people have asked me and, I have seen this on other people's fourms and stuff....

    When you get spywear on your computer most of the time you can get if off and your straight...

    but sometimes certin types of spywear can change your winsock configuration settings and disable you from getting on the internet..If this has not happened to you yet I suggest downloading Winsockfix, just google it and you should be able to find it quick.

    I know this is really really basic stuff for you hardcore computer peep's. But some people are not as smart as us, so thats why im writing this...

    You might want to post findings like this in Newbie security questions. And just a word of warning. you want to be carefull saying things like

    It's definately nice software, but it's included in most instructions and anyone who's intelligent enough to fix a computer will know about it...

    As for the "As smart as us" comment..... I'll let ya get away with it this time.. but remember.... I'm the cocky one :P

    Us says ...

    That if you have WinXP (or 2003) you can also fix your winsock by installing Windows XP support tools and then follow guidelines described here .

    So us must be a smart cookie

    I would like to add these aswell. For Windows XP

    Open command prompt type:

    netsh winsock show catalog

    to display tons of useful information. Also, you can reset it by using

    netsh winsock reset

    if done correctly, you should see a message

    'Sucessfully reset the Winsock Catalog'.
    You must restart the machine in order to complete the reset.
