Wired Network Router to a Wireless Router

I hope this is the right forum to post this I apologize if it isn't.

I do not know about the DHCP addresses and such. But I do want to hook up my wireless router to my wired router so I can share the same network and connection as my wired router. How do I go about hooking these up? My wired router is a netgear 614 and wireless is a netgear wpn824 if that helps.

I just not sure of what I need to setup or where to start? I have Norton firewall on both not including the firewall set up in the wireless. If anyone could help, that would be great.

    Thanks

Make sure that you enable WEP on the wireless router, for one. That's going to be your biggest security hole.

Other'n that, there shouldn't be any other major issues. Just make sure the wireless router is connected properly to the other router, and it should behave like any other network.

Firewalls are a good thing, as always.

Any reason you're not just replacing the 614 by the wpn824?

If that's not possible for whatever reason, all you need to do is run a cable from the LAN port of your 614 to the WAN port of the 824.

The wpn824 has WPA-PSK, so forget about WEP and go with the WPA.

Actually, if you don't want to have seperate wired and wifi subnets, just plug one of the lan ports of the wired router into a lan port of the wifi router. You then only need configure the wireless part of the "router" (although like this you're only using it as a bridge) and not the firewall/internet/routing part...

Oh and yeah, go with WPA... and use a strong passphrase...

PS: If none of your two routers support auto MDI-X, you'll need to use a crossover cable between them. That being said, almost all networking devices sold today support auto MDI-X (which is why I didn't mention it at first)
