    Is your software FBI approved?

According to the three-page document, to preserve the openness that characterizes today's Internet, "consumers are entitled to run applications and use services of their choice, subject to the needs of law enforcement." Read the last seven words again.

Doesnt suprise me one bit. The Goverment will always have there nasty little hands into everything we do including this post I bet. The sad part is we choose to keep our goverment the way it is. Im not saying I'm anti goverment or anything I just feel they need to back off of things they have no right controlling.

Pretty scary the lengths some people are willing to go..

A lot of 'old world' industries and institutions look to me like pandorra..
With her box in her hand.. screaming: "Get back in !!"

People scared of stuff they don't understand.. that's all..

The Federal Communications Commission thinks you have the right to use software on your computer only if the FBI approves.
Only if they approve? I don't think they would 'approve' of my software selection. **** the FBI and the FCC! Always have, always will.

Indeed. Please speak loud enough for that microphone in the sprinkler over there and be nice to the suits that show up on your door.

Well then we starts keepin' a track them I says:

    http://www.ciafbinews.com/

    http://www.topix.net/us/fbi

That and wrap your machines and cables in aluminum foil to keep them from hearing and seeing you!

I had a socialist teacher who taught Sociology - no really - she professed that and that she was a liberal to the class! I said, "Wow - do you get membership cards and t-shirts?!?" Anywho - she believed that we do not live in a democracy here in the US, but socialistic republic. She said some other important stuff that I tuned out, as I was heavily engaged in staying within the lines in my coloring book that night.

Seriously though, it is not a surprise to me, and I am sure not a real surprise to anyone as to what really goes on behind the closed doors of our government. While we are protecting networks, servers, workstations and the like, others are working just as hard to limit or even take away your liberties, because dammit, you have too many as it stands now!

'Course it does... well as long as we obey the laws...those you know and don't know about!

We\'ve all been raised by television to believe that one day we\'ll all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars -- but we won\'t. And we\'re learning slowly that fact. And we\'re very, very pissed off.\" - Tyler (Brad Pitt) Fight Club.

I found the original document, FCC-05-151. This was a policy statement published Sept. 23, 2005. The last footnote states:

"Accordingly, we are not adopting rules in this policy statement. The principles we adopt are subject to reasonable network management."

The document is actually a set of policy principles that the FCC states it will use as guidance in the generation of future rules. It is a grounding document for the CALEA rules expansion, the implementation of which is held up by a court case.

Yes, it still is a major concern and should be a focal point for action and activism against this type of wholesale slaughter of personal freedoms.

Our college and a bunch of other college's and universities were on a webinar the other day discussing CALEA with a lawyer...
Appearantly they are going to start this discussion in court the 12th of December I think they said.

They want to wiretap all colleges and universities for all data and phone communication...

And if you are not compliant the penalty is $10.000/day !!!
