"Should you not receive this message"

I was trying to cancel my hosting with crappy over-charging 1&1, and here's one of the e-mails I received in the process:

You have now started the online cancellation process for a 1&1 package,
domain or feature within a package, contract ID ********.

To complete the process you will need to activate your request. In order
to do so, you will receive an e-mail message with a special link which you
need to click to complete the process.

If you do not receive this e-mail and click on the link within 7 days,
your cancellation request will not be concluded and your package will
    remain active.

Should you not receive this e-mail message, you can request that it be
re-sent by accessing the cancellation tool at https://cancel.1and1.com.

Log in with your 1&1 customer details and then click on 'Status/Undo' in
the left navigation bar. In the summary table locate the 'Re-request
confirmation' link alongside the contract ID. Click on this link to have
    the e-mail message re-sent.

You will then receive an e-mail confirming that the cancellation is
    complete.

If you do not receive an e-mail within 48 hours then your order has not
been processed. Please contact our Billing Team (by e-mail at
billing@1and1.com or by phone, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm EST on
1-877-300-8316) to ensure your cancellation request is processed
    correctly.

If you ordered any 1&1 software CD, please note that, as required by our
terms and conditions, you are no longer entitled to continue using
licensed software. The software should be de-installed and completely
removed from any computer where it may have been installed. Also, any
copies or backup versions of the software must be permanently removed and
    destroyed.

Please note, in addition, that you are required to return all written
documentation received from 1&1 and any software CD which you may have
    ordered.

    Sincerely,

    Your 1&1 Team

Yeah ...ummm indeed ...the companies that rpovide these features make it extremely easy to join or order one of these packages/features ....and then make it extremely difficult to cancel the ordered/used product ... just because you would stay on longer ...and in effect it works sometimes ... I know someone that still payed for caller ID services (because he had a small company once) and didn't use it anymore (for a long time), but because he finds it so difficult to stop the service (he actually tried several times, and each time they said it's cancelled) he stopped trying and just doesn't pay anymore for that service ...it's been 3 months now ...we're having a wager going to see how long it will take for the company to notice

Reminds me of the old dialup days and I was trying to connect, and the isp kept dropping the connection...so I phoned...because I couldn't connect..

And I had done everything I could possibly think of on my end...figured it was on thier end.

Tech says "well...if you go to our web site.......there is a FAQ on troubleshooting"

"HELLO!!!!!.......I cant connect to the internet!!!! How do you expect me to go to your website....next level please"

Cemetric...you are so right...they make it easy to join...very difficult to cancel.

I beleive I have to give a months notice if I change my home isp....

Yeah ... they always have some tricks up the sleeves to garantee their money comming in.
They offer you great deals and conveniantly forget to tell you about the small print on the back

You get 3 months free sir ....oh that's nice ... but you'll have to sign up for a year ...mmm o-k ... and you're contract will automatically be renewed each year, unless you give notice 3 months in advance that you would like to cancel the contract .... ummmm (here's that ummm again).

Always read every small print you can find ...and if you can't read it ask for an enlarged copy of it. They are bound to oblige (sp?) ...well should be anyway.

Hey Texan how about downgrading it to something cheaper for your parents ?? I dont think that you would get charged the $150.00 fee if you did that ....
