    learning to write own scripts for linux boxes

    oh yeah i'm also very newb to programming but i AM trying...right now am trying to understand and learn the art of scripting. I'm using the VIM editor on nix...but every tutorial i find on the net leads me knowhere at all. I just want to learn the basics of scripting and then go from there, know what i mean? thanks for any insight

    Learn Perl and Bash shell scripting. Google and oreilly.com are your friends...

    Yeah yeah, python is ok too. You can also use python and perl on windows which could be helpful.

    Ive been learning the bash...
    but the book i have sucks and i'm poor and net topics are too in depth...too much info
    I am interested in Python also, but didnot want to give up on the bash
    thnx for the link
