rootkits in Mac
If you want to check for rootkits in Mac OS X, check out rkhunter.nl (I think that's the site, or do a search for rootkit hunter) and chkrootkit.org. You'll need to install wget for rkhunter:

Instructions and a link are contained there. You need to do this as root, even if you have admin privileges. Do this in the bash shell:
passwd root
then give root a password. Then su and give the password you created.
Follow the directions for installing and running the rootkit checkers. Feel a little safer.
