Search Engine Optimisation
hi
I know this technique is used for increasing the traffic on a website. And i understand that it may take upto 4-6 months to display exact results!!
Now I hav two questions:
1. How is SEO actually done??
2. Is there any other way, by which the results can be shown in less then 4 months??
Also, are the solutions of Q. 2, somewhat legal??
thnx

There is only one good way to do SEO..
Make a website with a nice look and good content that people will link to (so called viral advertising).
Also be sure to update your site often but keep the old content available..
There are so called SEO firms but they are mostly crap..
A good place to start reading on this subject is the google seo faq..
ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI.

Well I'll tell you my secrets..
A way to allways get your new items indexed fast by google is using it's sitemaps feature..
Google Sitemaps is an easy way for you to submit all your URLs to the Google index and get detailed reports about the visibility of your pages on Google. With Google Sitemaps you can automatically keep us informed of all your web pages, and when you make changes to these pages to help improve your coverage in the Google crawl.
But there is more then google..
Submit your site to relevant directory's on http://dmoz.org/
Use social bookmarking systems like http://del.icio.us/ http://www.stumbleupon.com/ http://digg.com/
Perhaps some others have their own SEO secrets they'd like to share..
