    Question Exchange Migration

Im new to AO and I wish I had found this sooner. Maybe some of you could help me out here.

I will be migrating an existing exchange 2003 server to new hardware. I was looking around for some good tutorials but I can only find how to migrate from exchange 5.5, Groupwise, exchange 2000, etc.

We are on a server 2003 domain and have around 200 users with e-mail.

Could anyone give a few tips or point me in the right direction?
I can provide more info if needed.

Not in your specific case, but I can give you some general advice base on other e-mail migrations.

    1. Get the users to clear out all their rubbish first.
    2. Back up everything, and test the backup first.
    3. Get the users to save their personal address books.

Although It is for SBS.....may help in your case

    Hi Patrande1,

Are you migrating from an Exchange 2003 server to another 2003 server within the same Active Directory domain, or are you creating a new server in a new domain?

How to move Exchange 2003 to new hardware and keep the same server name

I will be moving the Exchange on the same domain to new hardware.

If possible, I would like to keep the same computer name, IP, etc...

I got some new impressive hardware so I am eager to get it into production.

    HP Priliant DL 380 G4
    Xeon 3.8 GHz
    4 GB RAM
    Windows Server 2003, Enterprise
    6-300 GB 10k ultra320 SCSI Drives
    ~1.2 TB Storage
    RAID 5 with hot spare
    Dual Gig E
800 GB Ultrium 3 tape backup
