    Noob Question in regards to Wireless Network.

    Nevermind, turned on WEP and all is well.

    Look for WPA or WEP, Disable broadcasting the SSID, MAC address filtering... But most of all RTFM That will go a long way to providing the informatino you are looking for.
    Work... Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints...

    Personally I would enable MAC filtering on a Wireless Network, it can be more benificial than WEP in some cases!

    Totally agree with that. Unless you are a government agency or have conversations with users on your LAN about the Caramilk secret, encrypting the data is overkill. MAC filtering will not allow anyone to connect to your WiFi unless they have a matching MAC address.

    Now, Kismet and AirSnort (to name a few) are wireless sniffers that can sniff out the beacons from your WiFi users and reveal their MAC addresses. The attacker would have to wait until you disconnect to get on with a spoofed MAC address. The likelihood of someone doing this is small. If you have a black sedan with tinted windows parked in your driveway for longer than a day with a Pringle can on the roof, I'd be suspicious
